Short Description

Heavy Plate Producer is one of Europe's largest producers of heavy plates and is operating a BOF/EAF meltshop. In order to take the operators out of a hot and hazardous manual task, qoncept is automating the argon coupling on the steel ladles with its qouplerG3 system.

Each steel ladle has three purging plugs that have until now been connected by hand at every treatment position. With qouplerG3, the connection is made and released simply by the crane setting the ladle into its saddle, gas-tight and for all three lines at once, with no one having to approach the ladle. Manual coupling remains available in parallel throughout. In the project over 20 ladles will be equipment with the autocoupling as well as 15 different treatment positions like ladle cars, tank degassers and other positions. The vacuum degassing positions will be equiped with dedicated high-temperature design. qoncept carries the full scope from engineering through manufacture and delivery to erection on site and commissioning of every treatment position, including training of the customer's operating and maintenance staff.
